What Is Heresy?

The word, "heresy," has historically never been used as frequently as it is today. Since the advent of Christianity, even non-Christians have thoughtlessly used the word, without ever considering its true meaning. The Church of God believes in Christ Ahnsahnghong, who came, wearing the flesh, in accordance with the prophecies of Jesus’ second coming. The Church of God keeps the Passover and the Sabbath day, as Christ taught; however, the world rejects the Church, arguing, "They believe in a man," and, "They keep the Sabbath." The Bible testifies that the churches keeping Sunday service, Christmas, and Thanksgiving Day, and who revere the cross and the Virgin Mary—without ever referring to the Bible—are the true heretics. We need to come to understand what "heresy" truly is. If we do not realize what is seen as heresy in the eyes of God, we will be led into destruction. The word "heresy" means the dissent or deviation from a dominant truth of God—that is, the adherence to lawlessness.

Definition of Heresy

2) The origin of the word The word "heresy" comes from the Greek αἵρεσις, hairesis (from αἱρέομαι, haireomai, "choose"), meaning either a choice of beliefs, or a faction of dissident believers.
3) The Bible’s interpretation Looking in the Bible, let us first locate the verses which mention the word "heresy."

Gal. 5:20, KJV 『Idolatry, witchcraft...wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,』2 Pet. 2:1 『...They will secretly introduce destructive heresies...』

Tit. 3:10, KJV『 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject...』

4) The Doctrine of Christianity At the time of the Early Church, heresy was considered to be any opinion or doctrine which deviated from the truth of the Early Church, from those who followed only the teachings of Jesus. In other words, the religious organizations that do not follow the words of God, which have been written in the Bible, are heretical.

The Second Coming Jesus, Ahnsahnghong, in the Order of Melchizedek

In order to fulfill the prophecies of Melchizedek, Jesus is to come a second time. The Bible says that Jesus will come a second time.

Heb. 9:28 『...he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.』

The Second Coming Jesus will fulfill the prophecies of Melchizedek.

1) He will bless us with eternal life through the Passover bread and wine.

2) He will be born among unbelievers ("without father or mother").

3) He will be born of Gentiles ("without genealogy").

4) He is God ("without beginning of days or end of life").

Christ Ahnsahnghong is the one who fulfilled all of these prophecies. How can we not believe in Him when all of the prophecies about the Second Coming Jesus testify that Ahnsahnghong is the Christ? The members of the Church of God believe that Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming Christ—our Savior, who came in the order of Melchizedek—because the words of God testify about Him. Isa. 25:6 『On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines ...he will swallow up death forever...In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us."』Before the day of judgment comes, please accept Ahnsahnghong, the Second Coming Christ, who fulfilled the prophecies of Melchizedek. Christ Ahnsahnghong blessed us with eternal life through the bread and wine of the Passover. Therefore, He is our Savior.Even if a man performs a great miracle or wonder, if he has not come in the order of Melchizedek, he cannot be the Second Coming Christ. Thus, although a man may be humble in appearance, if he follows in the order of Melchizedek, he is the Second Coming Christ. Please recognize the Second Coming Christ through the words of the Bible so that you may receive salvation. The one who follows in the order of Melchizedek is the true God, our Savior.

The Fruit of the Tree of Life Is the Bread and Wine of the Passover

Now, what is important is how to eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood, the reality of
the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. It is impossible to eat Jesus Himself. Then,
what does the words of John 6:53 mean? These words are referred to the words
of Matthew 26:17. In this verse, we can find the way to eat the flesh and blood of
Jesus.

Matt. 26:17-26 『On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do you want us to make preparations for you to
eat the Passover?" He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'" So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. … While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.』

Jesus said that the bread and wine of the Passover is His flesh and blood, that is Jesus Himself. Eating the bread of the Passover and drinking the Passover wine is eating of the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. So far, we have studied that the tree of life is a parable and its reality is Jesus, and the truth through which we can eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood is the Passover.

We can understand that the tree of life is allowed to us through the Passover, and that Jesus who allowed us to eat from the tree of life is God.

Then, how can we eat from the tree of life?

If we look into the history of the Garden of Eden, we can find out that it is God that banned the sinners from eating of the tree of life. Then, we can reason that it is also only God that will allow us the tree of life. So Jesus who is God came to save us by restoring the tree of life to us.

John 10:10 『The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.』

The words, "I have come that they may have life," means, "I have come that they may eat from the tree of life." What is the reality of the tree of life?

John 6:53-54 『Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.』

In the book of Genesis, what should we eat to live forever? It’s the fruit of the tree of life. However, what did Jesus say we should eat to live forever? He said we should eat His flesh and drink His blood. Then, what is Jesus’ flesh and blood? It’s the fruit of the tree of life. That’s right. The fruit of the tree of life in the Garden of Eden represents Jesus’ flesh and blood. By eating Jesus’ flesh and blood we can eat the fruit of the tree of life which was lost by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. We should eat Jesus’ flesh and blood in order to have eternal life.

The Tree of Life Hidden Since the Creation
Matt. 13:34-35 『Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world."』

Jesus revealed the things hidden since the creation through the parables. Among the 66 books, which book has the history of the creation of the world? It is the book of Genesis.

In the book of Genesis there are many parables showing God’s Providence. Among the parables, let’s study the tree of life.

Gen. 2:16-17 『And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."』

In the Garden of Eden, God the LORD put the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And He commanded Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they were tempted by Satan and violated the commandment of God. By this, human beings are destined to die and death entered this world through sin.

After Adam and Even sinned in the Garden of Eden, has God ever given us an opportunity to be saved from death? Is there no way to be freed from death?

Gen. 3:22 『And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."』

As stated in the above verse, there is only one way for us to live forever. It is to eat from the tree of life.
